Gaius Marius was definitely a force to be reckoned with. He was elected to the office of consul a whopping SEVEN times during his career as a statesman in the Roman Republic. He also was a prominent general in the Roman army, known for important reforms he made to the military, including reorganizing the structure of legions. He also is known for defeating Germanic tribes that tried to invade Roman territory in 102 BC.
