A trophic hormone is a hormone that targets other endocrine glands. When hypothalamus release corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), the anterior pituitary will secrete adrenocorticotropic hormone or ACTH. Adrenocorticotropic hormone will travel to the adrenal glands and induce the secretion of cortisol hormone to the blood.
