These problems all contain isosceles triangles, which means that the two angles with each side are congruent. This is kind of confusing... the vertex is the angle where these two congruent sides meet. The other two angles will be congruent, in other words. In the end, all of the angles in a triangle must add up to 180. So you subtract those two congruent angles from 180 to find the missing vertex angle.
