a = -1
b = 2
c = -2

You can solve this by using the quadratic formula.
x = (-b +/-
√b² - 4ac)/(2a)
x = (-2 +/-√2² - 4(-1)(-2))/(2(-1)
x = (-2 +/-√4 - 8)/-2
x = (-2 +/-√-4)/-2
x = (-2 +/-2i)/-2
x = 1 +/- i

x = 1 + i
x = 1 - i
