Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar. The primary function of photosynthesis is to convert the energy from the sun into chemical energy for food. The plant uses this glucose to grow as well as make other useful substances, such as cellulose found in the cell walls and starch used as energy storage.
