since -y negates y we can just add the two equations together...

2x+3x+y-y=1-6

5x=-5

x=-1, making 2x+y=1 become:

-2+y=1

y=3

so the solution to the system of equations, or when they intersect graphically and are equal to one another is the point:

(-1,3)
