I'm having trouble trying to solve x - 2 = 3

We have x - 2 = 3

lets move the 2 over to the other side, we have

x = 3 + 2 = 5.

or

x - 2 = 3

add 2 to both sides

x - 2 + 2 = 3 + 2

x = 5
