If the original length is 35cm, find 10% of 35 which would be 3.5cm, then find 5% of 35 which would be 1.75cm, then find 1% which would be 0.35cm then add 3.5, 1.75 and 0.35 to get 16% which would be 5.5cm. Then, add the 16% increase onto the original length so 35 + 5.5, giving you an answer of 40.5cm.
