A rectangle has a perimeter of 18 cm. The long side is 1 cm more than three times the small side. How big is the small side?

Let small side be X

Larger side=3X+1

l+b=perimeter/2

3X+1+X=18/2

4X+1=9

4X=9–1=8

X=8/4=2
