t = u - 2

Square both sides to eliminate the square root.
t + 2 / u = 1

Multiply both sides by u to remove it from the left side of the equation that has t
t + 2 = u
(When the coefficient is 1, you don’t write it)

Subtract 2 from both sides to make t by itself
t = u - 2
