if you wanna solve for x, you have to try to get x by itself, right?
so,

tan36°= 12/x

---> multiply both sides by x

xtan36 = 12

---> now, solve for x by dividing both sides by tan36

so, you need to do 12/tan36

so when you plug that into your calc, you get: 16.5165... which rounds to 16.52
