Explanation: The earth's core "generates" its own magnetic field....so it is considered a magnet. A good example of a "Permanent Magnet" would be the Earth's crust. Not the crust itself, but the effect it causes. A "Electromagnet" is made by passing electric currents through a coil surrounding it. (I know, it's a bit confusing.)
