X^2+7x-8>0 eliminating denominator Factoring (x+8)(x-1) must be positive so Case 1 both positive is x>-8 and x>1. For both to occur x>1 Case 2 both are negative (x+8)<0 and (x-1)<0 so x<-8 and x<1. For both to occur x<-8 Therefore x<-8 or x>1
