Her error was that an integer is not just negative numbers, integers are whole numbers that are not fractions, which mean it could be positive or negative whole numbers.

An integer is defined as whole number, or a number that is not a fraction. Any whole number that is negative or positive can be an integer. Technically, not all negative numbers are integers. If the number is not a whole number, it is not considered an integer. For example, -2.5 is not an integer.
