Why is Pompeii consider a "lost city"? What are the current issues facing the area and what is being done to solve these issues?
A large part of the city is still underground, and all the inhabitants died or fled when Mt Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.
Explanation:
The Pompeii is an ancient Roman city located between the modern Pompeii and the Naples in the region of Italy. And the city was buried under the 4-6 metes of the volcanic ash and pumice and is largely preserved under the ash and organic remains include the wood the human bodies.
The city is an UNESCO world heritage site and with 2.5 million tourists each year. As a result the high tourist flow has created pressures n the lands and there is still a fear of the volcanic eruptions and most of the lands have been evacuated now.
