Why is a market economy so efficient in allocating goods and services?

It allows consumers to pick and choose what they consume. Which would pull out the better services, and increase the total market value because of local market investments. (Meaning local businesses will strive better even with the same quality of work, which will push them to increase quality and supply because of demand in the local economy). Hope this helps
