The length of the rectangle is 6 inches longer than the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 42 inches. What is the width of the rectangle, in inches?

to figure this out you need to subtract 12 from 42 to make the rectangle a square then divide 30 by 4 and you would get a width of 7.5inches
