There are mainly four basic steps needed in the process of securing a system which are as follow;
Number one, patch OS and applications utilizing auto-update which will secure the applications and system, number two is to patch third-party applications. Another very important step is to limit the admin controls only to the users who actually require that. And lastly white-list permitted applications.
