The movie and the book are very comparable with regards to the topics. Unquestionably the social partiality and prejudice inside Afghan culture against specific gatherings is predominant. Hassan, for instance, spends a life of a hireling and has no rights since he is a "Hazara". Furthermore women issues are highlighted that they have few rights too.
